I support this petition. BofA has been my bank for 30+ years. After getting a bailout and paying no taxes last year this is outrageous and a perfect example of why there is an occupy wall street crowd in every city. I'm pulling all my $ out of BofA. I guess I AM a 99% er. Shame on the Bof A 1% scum suckers! If everyone did this B of a would just be another failed bank.

Fees are tied to profit. The real question is whether we are going to do the right thing and limit profit in this country.
Profit should be no more than a few %points above interest paid to the account holders in banks throughout the country.

In this time of economic DISASTER and the skyrocketing unemployment rate, placing a CHARGE for people to use their debit card is MONSTROUS. I have already initiated removing my business and personal accounts, including investment accounts, from your establishment. Please remove this ridiculous greed-hungry fee and I will happily keep my accounts with your bank.

On September 29, 2011, Bank of America announced that it will charge customers $5 per month to use their debit card - a move that would disproportionately hurt youth and the poor who most use debit cards and are most likely to be hurt by these fees in a bad economy. (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/09/29/bank-of-america-debit-card-fee_n_987304.html) Background Information: This comes after banks were found to be charging debit card fees to small businesses that were 400% of the credit-card processing (interchange) fees charged by VISA and Mastercard. Now that they were caught (Swipe Fee Amendment), they are changing their fee structure to make up for their losses by exploiting their customers. This also comes in a year when Bank of America paid $0 Taxes on $4.4 Billion in Profits, while receiving a bailout from the government. At the current tax rate, this means they have $1.5 Billion in unpaid taxes.
