SAVE LAKE SHORE DRIVE

WHEREAS, The Town of Lake Park, FL is planning to close Lake Shore Drive south of Cypress Drive; and,

WHEREAS, That roadway closure would deny Lake Shore Drive residents access to the signalized intersection of US 1 and Silver Beach Blvd for south and west bound travel; and,

WHEREAS, Throughout the working day, and in particular at peak traffic hours, it can be extremely difficult to make a left hand turn onto US-1, particularly for our many elderly residents, who must rely on the Silver Beach Road signalized intersection to make that turn; and,

WHEREAS, The Town of Lake Park further wishes to allow the construction of a restaurant with an outdoor Tiki Bar playing loud music adjacent to and upon said section of Lake Shore Drive; and,

WHEREAS, A Tiki Bar with outdoor music is an inappropriate and incompatible use within an established residential community and would subject hundreds of residents to unreasonable disruption throughout the day and night;

THEREFORE, We the undersigned call upon the Town Manager and Town Commissioners to:

1) Cease plans to close Lake Shore Drive or to secure funding for said project; and,
2) Cease its efforts to promote or allow the development of an outdoor Tiki Bar adjacent to existing residential properties.
