Family court proceedings need to respect all Canadian laws especially the Constitution of Canada in order to provide an open, fair, and objective process for truth and justice to prevail. This is not happening in family court today. Parents are losing their children to wealthier and or politically connected mates who are often not as capable of caring for the children by way of unfair court proceedings. And Children's Aid Society is regularly able to apprehend children from good parents with no evidence of abuse or neglect and to get the court to find for crown wardship by way unconstitutional and unfair trials. This is so outrageously wrong that it is a great travesty of justice that needs to stop immediately, We are calling on both levels of government to make the necessary changes to bring these family court matters in line with morality and the law ASAP. Dear: Postmaster General Pat Donahue and Citizens Stamp Advisory Committee I________________________would like to support a petition for U.S. Postal Service commemorative stamp honoring General Vang Pao, a freedom fighter, naturalized U.S. Citizen, and the man who led the Hmong and Lao people to America. On January 4, 1961, Captain James W. (Bill) Lair a World War II veterans, who worked for the Central Intelligence Agency came to meet Lieutenant-Colonel Vang Pao at the Tha Vieng airfield, South of Xieng Khouang Town, Laos. General Vang Pao agreed to work for Bill Lair and the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency to defend the spread of communism. When it was in operation during 1961 to 1975, General Vang Po bravely led his troops to achieve three goals, which were to 1) stop the flow of the North Vietnamese troops and supplies through the Ho Chi Minh Trail into Laos on their way to attack the American and pro-democracy Vietnamese troops in South Vietnam, 2) rescue any American pilot that got shot down along the Lao-Vietnam border, and 3) protect the US Air Force Navigation Radar in Phou Pha Thi that guided the B-52s and the jets to bomb military targets in North Vietnam. He lost thousands of his Hmong and Lao soldiers to save thousands of American Soldiers and hundreds of American pilots. General Vang Pao was America's best ally and he was America's most reliable and trusted military commander during the conflict of Vietnam War. With these precedents in mind, I am asking the Postal Service to issue a stamp in honor of a man who was both Asian in origin and a Hmong American leader, although he came from an ethnic group and from a part of Asia that has never been recognized with a U.S. stamp before. We, the undersigned students at the University of New Brunswicks Faculty of Law are committed to promoting and enhancing a culture of increased access to justice in the Province of New Brunswick. Our desire as a student body is to affect the implementation of a Student Legal Aid Clinic program which is in line with the recently established legal aid clinic at the Universite de Moncton (which has been running successfully for almost one year), and following a model similar to the renowned legal aid clinic at Dalhousie Universitys Schulich School of Law. The state of legal aid and access to justice in the Province of New Brunswick is disparaging, to say the least. A 2007 report entitled If there were legal aid in New Brunswick: A Review of Legal Aid Services in New Brunswick (co-authored by UNB Law faculty member Dr. Jula Hughes) indicates that current legal aid service offerings in the Province fall far short of what is needed to ensure access to justice for all. Based on research conducted, the reports authors point to the establishment of student legal aid clinics in the province as a top priority. The need for legal aid clinics in the province has been ongoing. In the aforementioned 2007 report, the Review Panel was directed to investigate among other things the possibility and usefulness of establishing student legal aid clinics associated with the two law faculties in the province. As the report indicates, student legal aid clinics bring great benefits for students, graduates, and the community as a whole, including: The provision of services in currently severely under-serviced areas; The expansion of poverty law and family law services; The provision of advice to clients outside the current service offerings; Increased support to counsel and pre-screening for legal aid staff lawyers; The enhancement of student legal education through a strong clinical component; The development of community service skills and ethics for participating students and graduates; Increased awareness among law school graduates about legal aid programs; Increased recruitment opportunities for the NBLASC (New Brunswick Legal Aid Services Commission); Increased support for the legal aid program among the legal community; and, The fostering of a pro bono culture among students. To assist in remedying these highly important access to justice issues and to help meet the growing demand for legal aid services in New Brunswick, we, the undersigned students of the University of New Brunswicks Faculty of Law, are committed to and highly supportive of the establishment of a legal aid clinic within the Faculty of Law. Our goal is to build a bike only park with features that any and all levels of riders will enjoy, with the potential to hold bike camps and race competitions. Features: 1) Flowy Cross Country trails throughout, that can be connected into a single 5-6 mile loop around the property outskirts. 2) 1-2 miles of flowy and technical freeride trails (includes jumps and ladders) 3) Different degrees of progressive jump lines / flow lines and pump tracks 4) Tons of practice and skill-building features 5) A central picnic/meeting ground area There is an existing bike park in Issaquah called Duthie Hill that we would like to model after. Duthie Hill has riders from the ages of 2 and above frequenting the park, so much in fact, that their parking lot is insufficient. A bike park on Whidbey Island will give the local population an opportunity to ride on trails made specifically for them, without the worry of horses, hikers, or cars. The Center for Economic Progress has learned that the City of Chicago has proposed cutting its support of CEP from $450,000 to as little as $250,000 due to reductions in funding by the Office of Budget and Management. This possible 45% cut will dramatically impact CEPs ability to help low-income working families throughout Chicago achieve financial self-sufficiency and contribute to the vitality of the City of Chicago. While we certainly understand the enormous financial pressure the City is under and the tough choices that need to be made to keep the City financially viable, reducing funding to CEP will actually have the opposite effect. Without support from the Mayor and the Office of Budget and Management, CEP will have to eliminate or drastically cut back services in 2012, putting thousands of city residents at financial risk. The proposed cut in funding will mean closing two neighborhood sites and reducing services at all sites. As a result, CEP anticipates that a minimum of 5,400 Chicago residents will not be served and $10.8 million of refunds will be at risk. He first served his country during the Ethio/Somalia war.then during war with EPLF .In 1984,his fighter mig jet was hit ,and he served as POW for 8 years in sahel desert . After his return Col.Bezabih resumed his flying career as top flying instructor pilot on various air planes including Advanced Jet training. In May 1998, when the war broke out between Ethiopia and Eritrea, the tireless and the courageous Col. once again headed to the front combat line to defend his nation. Unfortunately on June 5,1998 his Mig-21 fighter interceptor was shot down by Eritrean anti aircraft unit and Col. Bezabih Petros was taken as POW.Col. Bezabih Petros is a father of 3 boys and two girls. I believe , he is still alive and we shall see him coming back home safely. We all hope that, and keep pray for that.
