Petition Against BTL’s Hostile and Anti-competitive Attack on SMART

We the undersigned, citizens of Belize, urge Belize Telemedia Ltd. (BTL) to discontinue its unfair business practice against SMART. We do not agree with the desperate actions taken against a company that has brought about more choices for the people of Belize. It is with the efforts of Smart that we have seen progress in our telecommunications industry. The unfair business practice on BTL's behalf is affecting not only the employees of SMART but also over 90,000 Belizeans and their families (living in Belize and abroad).

We, the affected stakeholders and the third party viewers take this opportunity to express our concerns. We do not want to lose our ability to decide where we get more value for our money. We want a fair and ethical platform in the telecommunications industry and we definitely agree that tampering with Smart’s quality service is NOT the solution.

We also urge the Public Utilities Commission, to intervene as a regulatory body and to ensure that fair play exists at all times. We, the citizens of Belize urge the PUC to intervene and demand BTL to discontinue hampering Smart's services.
We encourage GOOD BUSINESS PRACTICES and support COMPETITION!!
