Well, I don\'t know if renaming the school would rip it of being a science high school, and for sure if everything else remains the same the students will still be as excellent as they were (even with the Automatic Admission, which I dearly do not like either).
But I still support this petition for reasons told by many before me already. I believe they outweigh what I just said above. (Sinabi ko lang yun to show that we are not closed-minded, we just believe it really isn\'t right.)

It is not just about the name. It is about the legacy of the FIRST science high school in the country. It is about the excellence the school and its products value and provide to the country. It is the about the institution that has molded a great part of my, your, and of others before and after us.
My brother is currently studying in MaSci. He was so proud to be following me in studying in this school. No one can put away the joy and pride of studying in MANILA SCIENCE HIGH SCHOOL. But a mere change of name will ruin everything MaSci stands for.
Shoudn\'t my great city be proud that they have such school as MANILA SCIENCE HIGH SCHOOL? |

As an alumna of Philippine Science and with a brother who graduated this March from MaSci, I know how hard a student works to get accepted to a school like MaSci. We may be under different branches of the government (PSHS is under DOST, all other Science high schools are under DepEd), but in essence we are all the same in that we are special curriculum, science-oriented high schools. The first \"S\" in our schools\' names sets us apart from all other schools in the country.
MaSci was the first science high school in the country. Why take that honor away by renaming it?? It does an injustice to the alumni and students of the school, and of the entire Science High School system. |
